Artificial Turf Concerns: Health and Environment

From "Simcoe Park and Toronto Place Park Master Plan Ideas Board"

Go to the project

Many elements of artificial turf fields are hypothesized to be carcinogenic. Science takes a long time to prove things, but the evidence is adding up. They certainly contribute to environmental concerns, however, such as urban heat, biodiversity loss, and microplastic pollution.

Grass will be hard to maintain wgen we add a school with 600 kids to the mix. Maybe an all weather field is more practical.
I think the studies show it's beyond hypothesis. Here is a study on Health Impacts of Artificial Turf: Toxicity Studies, Challenges, and Future Direction shttps://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10262297/
