Washrooms for park users and separation of space from pickleball to basketball
From "Simcoe Park and Toronto Place Park Master Plan Ideas Board"
Go to the project
I like the changes and dedicated pickleball courts (no tennis nets) and more community gathering space.
I think public washrooms are needed. Moody has washrooms, not Simcoe.
For safety, add a barrier/ fence separating pickleballs from the basketball court. How about an outdoor show area or movies?

People visiting the park live in the neighborhood. We can easily go back home for the Nature's calls. If a public washroom is in fact built, it needs to be maintained well and kept safe. Don't let it become a magnet for shady activities.

There are washrooms already. Adjacent to the field in the School Board building. There are two of them, both with outside entrances.

I'm not sure anyone who has hoofed it up Queens to get to the park, only to have their kid yell "I HAVE TO GO P--" would agree with you.

A new basketball court squeezed between a new elementary school and a dog park doesn’t seem to make sense. Queens Park, Pier Park, and Moody Park have space for basket ball courts that are well separated from play areas. Simcoe doesn’t. Suggest leaving the basketball courts to those right beside the middle school and 8th Street where teachers and police driving by can keep tabs on what’s going on.

They plan to remove one of the courts which means less for tennis and pickleball.

And I am not sure why the pickleball people would think it is okay to remove the tennis courts. We should all be advocating for more courts for all raquet sports, instead of trying to squeeze tennis out of the city.

There are bathrooms. They are adjacent to the field on the outside of the school board building.

I guess they need better signage. I now remember seeing them but usually forget they're there.

Second this idea that public washrooms are needed! We all need somewhere to go!
