What is being proposed?
Rezoning and Development Permit applications have been submitted for 647 East Columbia Street in the Sapperton neighbourhood. The proposal is for a residential infill housing development consisting of two duplexes, which would both contain one secondary suite each. A total of six units: four principal units and two secondary units are being proposed on this lot. The buildings would be oriented parallel to East Columbia Street and separated by a landscaped courtyard. The development proposes units ranging in size from 178.3 sq. m. (1,919.8 sq. ft.) to 193.5 sq. m. (2,082.8 sq. ft.). An overall Floor Space Ratio (FSR) of 0.87 is proposed. Five off-street parking stalls would be provided for residents, accessed from the rear lane.
The application is consistent with the property’s Official Community Plan designation and would rezone the site from Single Detached Residential Districts (RS-1) to a site-specific Comprehensive Development (CD) zone.

How can I engage?
Upcoming City-led consultation is the main opportunity for the public to provide feedback through the application review process. Revisions to the proposal will be considered based on engagement feedback. The process will include City-led consultation, followed by revisions based on the feedback, and presentation to Council for bylaw consideration.
