Summary of Fall 2024 Engagement Findings

Engagement on the infill housing and townhouse program took place over Fall 2024, with opportunities for the community to provide input through the discussion forum on this page. During this phase, we sought to gather feedback from the community on their perceptions of infill housing and townhouse development, especially about new forms of housing that align with recent Provincial regulations.

What We Heard:

• Interest in designs that consider green design principles, biodiversity and tree retention
• Support for more infill housing and townhouses throughout the city, especially in locations close to transit
• Concerns about infrastructure (roads, schools, sewer, water) supporting increased density
• Considerations of parking and traffic demands on neighbourhoods with increased density
• Interest in more diverse missing middle housing forms that accommodate families and aging in place and provide greater affordability

The feedback gathered from this discussion forum is being considered as both programs advance.
